St Agnes 75 Callington 7 WITH Callington riding fresh from their 36-7 win over Salcombe from the previous week — which included Matt Hannaford, Jerry Jones and Derek Ingleson amongst the try scorers — the league fixture against St Agnes was much anticipated. However Callington were to suffer from a shortage of available players through injury or work commitments. Not willing to disappoint they still battled on with the fixture. As such St Agnes were able to open the scoring and add to it throughout the game, leaving a limited number of opportunities for the visiting side to use. Callington were able to get some points on the board through Matt Hannaford who scored a try in the closing minutes of the first half. This was successfully converted by full-back Wayne Wormald. In the second half Callington continued to work hard, not giving up the fight throughout the game. They worked well in the scrums and contested for every ball within the line-outs, winning several against the head. But it was all to no avail as St Agnes ran away with the points.
