TWO women were trapped in their vehicles after a collision on the A386 on Tavistock Goose Fair day.

Police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at Blackdown, between Mary Tavy and Lydford, at 10.45am last Wednesday, involving a BMW and a Volkswagen Golf.

Two fire appliances from Tavistock were mobilised, following a request from police on the scene. On arrival, a third fire crew from Okehampton was mobilised due to the severity of the entrapments.

Crews used three sets of hydraulic cutting equipment and one winch to get both drivers safely from their cars.

They were taken to hospital. One, a 39-year-old woman from Tavistock suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, while the other, a 32-year-old woman from Okehampton had minor injuries.

The A386 was closed at Lydford and Mary Tavy. The road was fully open again at 1.30pm.
