Okehampton Ladies 1
Dulwich Town Ladies 4
HAVING only lost 4-3 to Dulwich in the league cup two weeks previously, the ladies had high hopes of a reversal in this clash with the premiership leaders.
Chances for either side were few with both defences dominating, but on the half-hour poor marking allowed Melanie Jones to open the scoring for Dulwich.
Ten minutes later she netted a second following a goalmouth scramble.
With the advantage of playing down the slope in the second half the home side were looking to reduce this deficit. They had the majority of possession but without Kelly Cooper, sidelined by injury, they were unable to break down the sweeper system being used effectively by Dulwich.
With Naomi Wilkins sustaining an ankle injury early in the half and Sarah Blowey in uncharacteristic subdued form Okehampton could not capitalise on the extra possession.
Kelly Drew, who had an ankle injury, put in a good display with some fine saves but 15 minutes into the second half she was unable to hold onto a well struck shot and Ben Head netted from the rebound.
Sarah Blowey pulled one back almost immediately with a well taken goal from a through-ball from Hal Vincent but any hopes of a revival were dashed when Corina Chapman deflected a header into her own goal to restore Dulwich three goal lead.
Player of the match: Corina Chapman.
This week?s game is away to Totnes and players should meet at 12.30pm outside the school gates.
