AN Easter meal with a difference helped raise money for a Tavistock venture supporting those recovering from mental health problems. The Make a Difference café, which is soon to become a charity, held an Indian Easter meal, cooked by Savita Jhangiani of the new Spar shop at the main Post Office in the town, helped by friend Claire Garrad-Pillar. A wide selection of authentic Indian dishes were provided, with Indian music in the background to provide the appropriate atmosphere. More than £130 was raised, and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses raised a further £177. Geoffrey Cox MP donated a bottle of House of Commons whisky, which was auctioned and raised £21.50. Make a Difference has been running for ten months and provides a safe, welcoming environment for people recovering from mental health problems. The café is held every Friday from 10am to 2pm, and is open to the public. Organisers thanked everyone who had supported the event, in particular Savita for cooking the meal and everyone who donated raffle prizes. A fair with table top sale and various stalls is being planned for the summer.
