A NEW theatre company set up to bring together students, new talent and familiar faces, has raised £800 for charity from its first production.

In The Wings Theatre Company was created in early 2009 by two students Ross Ayling and Morag Stolton, from Tavistock, with the intention of putting together quality productions each summer and donating the proceeds to charity.

This summer saw the success of their first production, The Musical of Musicals: The Musical, which made a profit of £800 that has been given to the company's chosen charities, St Luke's Hospice in Plymouth and CHICKS, Country Holidays for Inner City Kids.

Ross Ayling expressed delight and gratitude on the success of the show and the company in its first year of business.

He said: 'Morag and myself are delighted and privileged to be able to raise this money for the two charities.

'We are very proud of all the hard work that went into this production from all involved, including our amazing cast, who provided a fantastic but different show for the audience to remember.

'We received praise and positive responses from our audience, and have already been asked what show we are putting on next year.

'We would like to thank our cast, production and front of house team for their commitment and hard work, and a big thank you to our audiences for their support.'

Jo Westerman, community fundraiser for CHICKS, said: 'We would like to thank In The Wings Theatre Company for putting on three fantastic performances over a three-day period to support CHICKS.

'We are always looking for community groups to support our work and were delighted when In The Wings announced we were one of the charities they had chosen to support.'

St Luke's representative Stephanie Cherington said: 'Ross, Morag and the company have given a lot of time and effort in producing this show for charity.

'We really do appreciate everything they have done to raise these funds for us, and I am delighted that the production went so well.'

Despite busy schedules at the University of Central Lancashire, Ross and Morag have already started planning towards their next show in the summer.
