A TAVISTOCK church is appealing for volunteers and funds to help create an exciting new outdoor play area.

The extension to the existing patio area at the rear of the upper hall at Tavistock Methodist Church will increase the current outdoor space by almost five times.

The improvements will provide a new outdoor play area for the church's regular toddler groups and evening youth groups. The area will also be used for other social activities, including the new family working project, which supports the entire family.

A table top sale will be held on Saturday November 13 between 9.30am and 12.30pm to raise funds for the new facilities.

To keep costs down, the church is also appealing for enthusiastic people to help with landscaping and the construction of decking.

Russell Bayliss from the church said: 'We're looking for anybody willing to help — whether they have particular skills or not.

'This is a community-wide call for anyone who would like to help create a brilliant facility for the town, as well as to give their tools a bit of use.'
