OKEHAMPTON Golf Club?s last open of 2002 was held on Monday week in glorious autumn conditions.

This was the veterans? four-ball open. There were 164 entries from different counties.

Results: 1, S Sanders and N Davey with an excellent score of 47 points, from Okehampton Golf Club; 2, Mr Parsons and Mr Gibson with 44 points, also from Okehampton.

The best visitor prize went to Mr James and Mr Thomson from Staddon Heights with 44 points on countback.

On Saturday a three ball stableford was held. There was a good entry of 113.

Results: 1, R Davies, N Heath and E Boswell with an excellent score of 87 points; N Heath had a two on the par 4 18th.

2, R Prouse, D Prouse and B Fishleigh, last 9, 81 points; 3, D Harwood, M Cox and P Martin, 81 points.

On Sunday September 22, a mixed Dartmoor Trophy was played between seven clubs within Dartmoor national park. Okehampton won the trophy by six points. Next year this is to be held at Wrangaton Golf Club.

The picture match which is played between Tiverton and Okehampton each year was regained by the home club Tiverton.

Next year the venue is Okehampton.
