ANOTHER fatal road accident has occurred in Lake (on the A386). Accidents here are an all too common occurrence.

How many deaths will it take for measures to be put in place to improve the safety of this stretch of road? Many drivers exceed the speed limit when passing through Lake, and many also overtake on this relatively straight section.

Several residents of Lake, including ourselves with young children as passengers, have been involved in accidents caused by excessive speed, when entering or leaving our properties.

Living on this stretch of road is hazardous, and this situation is not acceptable. We and all the residents of Lake have a right to live in safety, without fear of being involved in an accident.

We would urge both the parish council and the police to thoroughly review the safety of this stretch of road, following the most recent accident.

Also we ask that when driving through our hamlet, drivers respect our right to live here safely, and keep to the 40mph speed limit.
