I WOULD like to put my points across with regard to the so called 'Urban Gateway' that is currently at the top of Whitchurch Road.
Not only do you take a risk driving along it, due to the fact that it is treated like a racetrack, but it is not possible to see at either end of it due to the fact the grass and hedges have grown too high.
Fair enough, it cost £25,000, but the people of Whitchurch (whom it directly affects) were not consulted about it and I haven't spoken to anybody who agrees with it.
Considering it was originally put in to slow the traffic down going through the village, which doesn't appear to have worked anyway, would it not make sense for West Devon Partnership Committee to hold their hands up and admit their mistake and put some traffic calming measures in the village where they are actually needed? It seems the attitude is that because something has been done the problem has been sorted out.
Can I just ask, on behalf of myself and my family who have to contend with traffic whizzing past at all hours of the day, that this problem is addressed before somebody is seriously injured or, worse still, killed?
I am not asking for the earth, just maybe a couple of speed humps or a strategically placed speed camera or two would do the trick, which surely is not asking too much or is it?
