KEEN photographers and artists are invited to take part in a new competition to find an image of Dartmoor for postcards to be distributed by the Dartmoor Tourist Association.

Earlier this year the association provided member businesses with 15,000 free postcards and postage to encourage previous visitors to return and sample the magic of the moor.

Adam Southwell, of Prince Hall Hotel, who is acting chairman of the association, said the postcards had proved ?very popular? with the previous visitors, and more than £32,000 of business had been brought to participating members.

An autumn postcard is now to be produced, and the competition is free to enter. All types of material are welcome, from photographs to paintings, as long as they have an autumn theme. Entries must be received by August 8.

The association is also hoping to get sponsorship from local businesses for the campaign.

?The people who live and work on Dartmoor have a great community spirit and everyone will benefit by bringing visitors back to the moor,? Mr Southwell said.

The winner in the competition will receive a meal for two at the Two Bridges Hotel, and the runner-up a family ticket to Buckland Abbey.
