WE are all about to suffer the results of yet another 'rubbish' decision from West Devon Borough Council. They tell us that the new fortnightly arrangements for waste collection will save £1.7-million over seven years. Hurrah!
However, a brief 'back of an envelope' calculation indicates that this is less than one pound per household per month. I am sure I cannot be the only householder who would rather retain weekly collections than save a paltry £11 a year off my council tax.
This is even more disappointing in that earlier in the year, in connection with the reinstatement of the railway, I offered to donate an envelope to the council to assist with the quality of their decision-making. I am only sorry that Mr Incoll has not seen fit to take up my offer.
