I WAS sorry to read of the disappointing experience of a recent visitor to Morwellham Quay (Letters, October 15). No doubt financial difficulties had curtailed some of the activities we experienced on a most enjoyable visit last year.

We took our two grandchildren along with two of their friends, and had a really good day out at this unique, special place. After a fascinating trip into the copper mine and a picnic by the Tamar, the children experienced a real lesson in the Victorian schoolroom, having first dressed up in authentic clothes. Then we watched boat-builders at work on a beautiful new wooden boat, and the craftsmen took time to answer our questions and explain what they were doing. The visit was rounded off with a highlight for the children — buying sweets at the Victorian sweetshop.

I do hope that Morwellham will once again be the great family attraction it has been in the past.
