THE Okehampton Junior Open and East Devon League (EDJL) event took place on Sunday. The glorious weather saw 100 competitors face a tough challenge on Okehampton Golf Club?s excellent but quick greens.
The prizes were well divided between visitors and home players with Dan Olver (St Austell) winning division 1, Sam Betts (Yelverton) winning division 2 and Lawrence Waldron (Okehampton) winning division 3. Mia Hendy (St Austell) won the girls? prize and Mark Gillard (Honiton) won the scratch prize.
Division 1: 1, D Olver (St Austell) 40 points; 2, T Jessamine (Woodbury Park) 39; 3, L Walrond (Exeter) 37.
Division 2: 1 S Betts (Yelverton) 43 points; 2, J Weller (Okehampton) 40; 3, R Pope (Exeter) 39 .
Division 3: 1, L Waldron (Okehampton) 47 points; 2, D Yeo (Portmore) 43; 3, E Kendall (Okehampton) 37.
In the EDJL the Okehampton team made 211 points to move up to second in the table. Team: S Hill, 33 points; D Prouse, 31; J Weller, 40; R Wooldridge, 33; S Bennett, 35; M Cooper, 39; J Rattenbury, 31.
A total of 44 teams took part in a three-ball stableford team event on Saturday. The lower handicappers of division 1 made the most of the testing conditions with the team of John Tolley, Rob Curtis and Barry Coaker winning with 85 points.
Division 2 was tight with the top three teams all getting 78 points, Malcolm Hill, Lynn Hazleton and Dan Potter winning on the last 9.

On Monday, June 7 the Okehampton Ladies? County Scratch team won their match against Tiverton at Tiverton 14 to six.
Tuesday June 8 was Ladies? Invitation Day. The ladies and their guests had a pleasant day and played a four-ball better ball stableford competition.

On Wednesday June 9 the ladies played their monthly stableford and rosebud qualifier.
Silver division: 1, M Huggins(12) 33; 2, C James (19) 32 (back 9).
Bronze division: 1, L Rolfe (25) 41; M Howe (36) 32. Rosebud qualifiers: Lorna Rolfe and Cherry James.
