Peninsula South Western league division 1 west

Callington Town 1

Truro City 1

AN injury time howler denied Callington all three points they truly deserved in this entertaining top of the table clash at Ginsters Marshfield Parc.

The first half was tight with Truro content to keep all eleven players behind the ball. Callington had few clear-cut chances although when they did break down the visitors' system, like Lee Beer in the 25th minute, they found Dan Stephenson in fine form between the City sticks and the first half ended goal-less.

The second half was similar fare until a timely substitution led to the deadlock being broken. Gareth Jones, back for Callington after five weeks away working, substituted for Ryan Lucassi.

His entrance paid almost immediate dividends when a combination of Mason and new boy Andy Harris saw Jones shoot on the turn across the goal and into the far corner.

With the 90 minutes up, the usually dominant Callington keeper Thomas Drinka made a howler of a clearance that fell to Joe McQuade and he made the most of the chance to fire his side level to gain a share of the points.
