BARN Owl Trust conservation officers will be in West Devon this year and early next carrying out the Westmoor Barn Owl Survey. David Ramsden, senior conservation officer, said the barn owl population in West Devon was 'particularly sparse compared with the rest of Devon'. Barn owls were now rare and the trust was making efforts to ensure their survival, he said. 'The barn owl survey will reveal the current population and determine whether the implementation of a conservation scheme would be viable to increase barn owl numbers in West Devon,' Mr Ramsden said. The trust is gathering information about past and present nesting sites and barn owl sightings and anyone having seen a barn owl is asked to contact the Barn Owl Trust on 01364 653026 or email [email protected]">[email protected] Barn owls are white, they fly at dusk and dawn and screech.
