THE Horses Help Heroes challenge, aiming to raise £1-million for Help for Heroes, passed through Okehampton last week.
The challenge was for a team of wounded servicemen and their support crew to drive a horse-drawn replica world war one ambulance 1,000 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats non-stop.
The team started on Tuesday June 21, finishing at John O'Groats yesterday (Wednesday).
The ambulance was driven by Jacks El Tawil, a Wiltshire-based paramedic, and a number of amputee soldiers.
Horses Help Heroes is a new charity appeal supported by Prince William, and is an offshoot of Help for Heroes.
The money raised by the challenge will be distributed between BLESMA Limbless Victims, Combat stress and ABF, The Soldier's Charity.
