I WAS horrified to read that the site in Duke Street (formerly the Trustee Savings Bank) is to become a betting shop.

This is a prime site in the heart of Tavistock and should be used to enhance and extend the existing range and quality of the shopping centre for which Tavistock has a justifiably high reputation.

If an appropriate modification to the front of the ground floor is acceptable to Tavistock Town Council in order to encourage the desired enhancement of the town centre, it is difficult to understand how West Devon Borough Council can justify refusing that permission which is resulting in this totally inappropriate use of such a location.
