RE tree felling in Tavistock?s Dolvin Road cemetery, I understand that the town council has gone to great expense to carry out a survey into the safety and health of all the trees in Dolvin Road cemetery.

This survey has concluded that some of the trees are extremely hazardous to the safety of the public using Dolvin Road, to the road users, residents and pupils at the primary school.

These trees also present a considerable risk to property. Therefore I can only conclude that something must be done about this situation before someone is killed or injured.

It is always such a shame when people oppose measures to ensure public safety on the grounds of ?preservation?.

I?m sure these people are very well meaning. That being the case, perhaps they could pay for replacement trees and spend their time attending to greater causes such as combating poverty and pollution.
