GUY Fawkes will be sure of a warm reception at this year?s 21st Sticklepath Fireshow, which takes place next week.

Larger-than-life masks, puppets, music, original pageant and script and a stunning set combine to ensure the annual event is so much more than just a bonfire and fireworks display.

The fireshow is thought to be the largest annual community arts event in the South West drawing up to 3,000 visitors to the village every November 5.

Hundreds of local people get involved each year collecting wood, making costumes, set construction and arranging the fireworks before Guy goes up in flames when the carefully built and lovingly painted stage is set alight by a crew member at the end of the night.

Gates open at 6pm at the Finch Foundry Field, Sticklepath on Friday, November 5, with the show starting at 7.30pm and costing £6 for adults and £1 for children.

A free bus shuttle service departs from More Newsagents in Okehampton and Giblands bus stop, Okehampton every 15 minutes from 6.15pm.

A return shuttle service is also available after the event.

Refreshments are available and parking for the disabled is provided opposite the site.

Spectators are reminded that for safety reasons, alcohol and fireworks, including sparklers are not allowed on the fireshow field.
