THE annual Tag Rugby Festival took place on Friday between the six largest primary schools in the Tavistock area. Held at Tavistock Rugby Club, this annual event is always fiercely contested and this year's festival was no exception. The participating schools were hosts Tavistock Community Primary, Whitchurch, St Andrew's, St Peter's, Bere Alston and Bickleigh Down. The battle for first place eventually came down to the game betweem Tavistock and Whitchurch. The game ended in a draw, but Whitchurch had already drawn against St Peter's, and Tavistock Community Primary, who had displayed some outstanding rugby, were awarded the trophy. The links that the festival creates between the local primary schools and the rugby club are invaluable, and organisers thanked the rugby club for making it possible. Special recognition should go to Dick Seeley amd Sandra Vanstone who were at the clubhouse to offer support and refreshments.
