HOSTA growers Ann and Roger Bowden of Sticklepath are celebrating another award from the Chelsea Flower Show — this time a silver gilt.
But there is a tinge of disappointment that the gold medal, which they won in 1999, did not have their name on it this year.
The couple, who hold the National Collection of Hostas — over 900 varieties — will be opening their garden at Cleave House to the public this weekend from 10.30am to 5pm on June 1 and 2 under the National Gardens Scheme.
Another local winner at Chelsea was The Plantsman's Nursery from Throwleigh who took home a silver medal.
