THE local fundraising group for Children's Hospice South West will help visitors to the Coombe Trenchard Home and Garden Show at the end of the month make new memories, but from a bygone era. The group is thrilled to be invited to host the croquet lawn at the two-day event on May 31 and June 1, and will give visitors the chance to try their hand at croquet and a variety of traditional garden games and there will even be a set of small croquet mallets for children. Dressed to honour the Edwardian era, the Children's Hospice volunteers will also offer drinks for guests at the event as they sit and take in the beautiful gardens. Local artist Nicholas St John Rosse has also agreed to attend with original art and prints and fans of his work will be able to meet Nicholas, who is a great supporter of the charity. Nicholas painted 'Little Harbour' in 2011, to celebrate the opening of the charity's third hospice and signed prints of the picture will be on sale. Judy Pride, from the charity, said: 'This is a very special invitation for us and we are so looking forward to being part of the extremely prestigious event. 'We will be there on both days and have some great plans to make this a visit that guests to Coombe Trenchard will remember.' Anyone in Edwardian costume is welcome to join Children's Hospice on the croquet lawn and be part of the fun.
