A HORSE had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in a ditch in Middlemoor, Tavistock on Saturday.

A crew from Tavistock and the specialist rescue team from Camelshead attended the incident. The crew had to make its way on foot across two fields to reach the animal, before locating additional access for the specialist rescue team.

Line rescue was used to release the horse and it was left in the care of its owner and a vet.
