GIRLS' football in Horrabridge is going from strength to strength with 25 players now in the under 15s group. Two teams have been set up since the group formed in the summer and are now kitted out with new jackets thanks to the sponsorship of Lee Mill tyre remoulding firm Bandvulc. Despite 20 years playing rugby, Rob Atkinson has responded to a plea for a girls' football manager ably backed up by his daughter Kate, who used to play for the Tavistock Ladies football team before it split. The father and daughter team are in charge of the A and B teams respectively so the competition is on! They have both completed their Level One Football Coaching course. The girls have started playing in the Leander B league which involves teams mainly from the Plymouth area but also includes Saltash and Looe. Mr Atkinson said: I have been very surprised by the interest in Horrabridge as some of the Plymouth teams have been unable to get enough players to compete. 'I am delighted and we will take these two teams as far as they want to go through the age groups.'
