Tavistock Town U14s 2 Venterdon 3 THIS was a supurb all round team performance by Tavistock against a team who has not lost for two years. The game started very well for Town who were the dominant side from the first whistle. This was rewarded with a penalty after five minutes for a hand ball offence. Up stepped James Follett who scored with a well taken spot kick under pressure. Tavistock were now rampant and were unlucky not to increase their lead through the twin strike force of Jordan Williams and Sean Cleave who were a constant menace all afternoon. With about 10 minutes to half time Ross Leggett was unlucky not to increase Tavistock?s lead with a excellent volley which was somehow diverted over the bar off a defender?s head on the line. Tavistock went 1-0 ahead at half time. The team was rewarded with a little over 15 minutes to go when Town gained the reward their dominance richly deserved with a superbly taken goal from Sean Cleave. A real upset was now on the cards, but after two clear penalty claims not going Tavistock?s way, Venterdon slowly clawed their way back and pulled a goal back from a lapse in the Town defence. Tavistock introduced Paul Waddle and Mike Gentle to try and add fresh legs to a tired side and despite constant pressure Tavistock held on until eight minutes from time when Venterdon equalised from a Tavistock mistake. Now Venterdon had their tails up and with one minute to go they snatched all three points with a well taken goal. Tavistock have another chance to beat Venterdon in the eagerly awaited DJM cup final on May 2.
