DJM Horsham U18 St Cleer 5 Tavistock Thistles 2 THE long break without a game did not do Thistles any favours even though they took the lead after 15 minutes with a well worked goal. A cross from the left hand wing by Adam Roberts found Michael Brown free in the area; his initial shot hit the post but he managed to latch on to the rebound and find the net at the second time of asking. Unfortunately Thistles then went to sleep and did not show the spirit or control required to win the game. This allowed St Cleer to muscle in and even up the scores with a long range shot which forced an uncharacteristic mistake from the Thistles keeper. St Cleer then scored a further two goals to go into the break 3-1 up. To add to Thistles problems shortly before the break they lost there influential midfielder Simon Kelly and with his departure went any hope Thistles may have had of pulling the game back. There was a slight improvement when Thistles came out for the second half and once again Michael Brown latched onto a cross and this time only needed one chance to put the ball in the net. But alas to more successful long range shots from St Cleer sealed Thistles fate. l Their next game is away to Plymouth Trophyman on April 8.
