DARTMOOR may seem about as far away from the silver screen as one can imagine, but thanks to a hilarious new comedy, this November 'Hollywood Comes to West Devon'.
The play, written by villager Mike Ingham, will be performed at Bratton Clovelly Parish Hall by the Red Spider Company.
Imagine that in 1973, a Hollywood film crew came to stay on Dartmoor, shooting a film packed full of mystery, murder and mayhem: 'An American on Dartmoor'. The star of the film tucked himself away in a simple farmhouse in the picturesque village of Northdown.
What would happen if, more than 30 years on, that star wanted to return to West Devon and take up residence in that cottage? Add in a retired couple from Yorkshire who have moved in, modernised, and intend to stay put, and you have the recipe for an hilarious evening's entertainment.
Performances take place at 7.30pm on November 18, 19 or 20. Tickets cost £5 and are available from Mary Rolfe 01837 861510 and Mary Jordan 01837 871220. Half of the proceeds will go to the parish hall.
