THE finals of the Tavistock Sir Francis Drake Bowls Club competitions saw several different members gaining the honours in some closely fought contests.
Ladies section results were: Champion: Yvonne Meneer; runner-up: Marlene Paramor. Handicap: Marlene Paramor, runner-up: Marion Allen. Two wood: Shirley Blackburn, runner-up Marion Allen. Jackie Fenner Trophy: Jill Lacayo, runner-up Hazel Lovell.
Men?s section: Champion: Mike Allen; runner-up: Clifford Hicks. Handicap: Ray Moore; runner-up: Clifford Hicks. Two wood: Clive Jago; runner-up Clifford Hicks. Muzzlewhite Trophy: Brian Preece, runner-up Bill Ashe. Kerswill Trophy: Norman Paramor; runner-up John Timmins. Men?s pairs: Gordon Northey and Mike Allen, runners-up; Derek Bradford and Brian Preece.
Mixed matches: Bryan Parker Trophy: Mike Allen, runner-up Clive Jago. Mixed pairs: Shirley Blackburn and Mike Allen; runners-up: Marion Allen and Barry Chappell. Mixed triples: Wendy Bloomer, Bill Ashe and Mike Allen; runners-up Shirley Blackburn, Derek Bradford and Der Saunders.
The season will finish with the traditional match between teams representing the lady captain Jill Lacayo versus the men?s captain, Brian Preece. This will be followed by the presentation of trophies by vice-president Tom Sharp.
