Tavistock 2

TAVISTOCK were hoping to open up there campaign with a bang and started much the better team with many chances saved by the Dart keeper in the first 15 minutes. 

After the sending off of the Dart centre-back after a challenge to stop a goal scoring chance, Tavistock began to take control playing some great flowing hockey.   This resulted in the opening goal, started in the centre with Paul Marchant flighting a ball through to Jake Doney, whose precision pass to Josh Cowen d'Arcy resulted in a deft finish to put the visitors 1-0 up at half time.

Tavistock continued to pressure Dart into the second half, but despite this Dart levelled with their first shot of the game.  As the heat of the day got to all the players, fitness began to play its part, and after some great play down the left hand side with Rory Carr and Tom Unwin combining well, Tavistock were awarded a short corner.  This was converted after a neat one-two was flicked home by the captain Paul Marchant.

Tavistock still pushed for more goals, and both Josh Cowen d'Arcy and Tom Harrold having excellent solo efforts saved  by the Dart keeper.  As both teams began to tire, a wayward pass in the midfield gave possession to Dart, who after running to the top of the area, crossed in for a deflection to level the score at 2-2.
