KELLY College in Tavistock this week announced the appointment of a deputy headmaster, Ed Noy Scott.

Ed has recently moved from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, teaching at the Royal Grammar School, where he became head of classics as well as head of Year 11. Ed attended Bradfield College, Bristol and Cambridge Universities before his first teaching appointment at Uppingham School.

He has also coached various sports, including rugby, cross-country and cricket, as well as being involved in drama and music.

Ed said: 'Kelly College provides me with exactly the kind of opportunity in education that I have hoped for — a superb rural setting and an ethos which embraces education in its broadest and most enriching sense.'

Ed was brought up in Tavistock, where many of his family still live, and attended Mount House School until 1985.

He said: 'Tavistock has always been my home and returning to this community is a wonderful prospect.'
