Okehampton 75 Ilfracombe 5 IN this one-sided affair match sponsors Lloyds TSB were treated to a fine display of open running rugby from the home side. For the first ten minutes the visitors competed well but after two Harry Bushin tries the floodgates opened. Further tries in the first half came from Steve Alford, Adam Curtis, Arnie Searle and Andy Brimmacombe (2) who scored one of the best tries of the game when he collected the ball off the floor on his 22, rounded the defence and out sprinted the cover defence for his long range effort. The second half saw much of the same with tries from Ali Mason, Arnie Searle (2), Steve Alford, Adam Curtis and Tom Powell. The pack played particularly well with man of the match Danny Carey playing well in the tight and the loose. The pick of the backs Arnie Searle had three tries and as many assists. The team had some bad news this week with club captain Lee Carey needing surgery on his knee injury. Stand-in captain Ali Mason was philosophical, admitting it was a big blow but adding the team are two points clear and taking each game at a time. The boys all have a great respect for Lee and all want to win this league. This week sees Okehampton travelling to Dartmouth ? a team who are recently improving league position.
