THE sun shone on the tenth anniversary celebrations of the opening of Pilcher's Field, the Abbeyfield Home in Crapstone, on August 4.
Many of the people originally involved ten years ago were present, along with the residents and present committee members. Teenager Brittany Heal — who had presented the donor of the land, Mrs Rosemary Pilcher, with a bouquet at the opening — repeated the honour at the lunchtime party.
Mrs Norah McRae, one of the first residents to move in and who celebrated her 100th birthday earlier this year, said a few words on behalf of the residents and the present chairman, Dr Michael Inman, gave a short speech.
Also attending were David and Jenny Miles, who designed and maintain the grounds.
