A HALWILL holiday complex which is continuing to draw in business despite the foot and mouth crisis has raised over £1,000 to help the agricultural industry and Winsford Community Centre.

Over the past four years, through its annual Easter Sunday Charity Fishing Match, Anglers Paradise has raised £5,500 for local causes.

Owner Zyg Gregorek said considering the state of the local economy at the moment it was fantastic that people were still willing to give to help others.

'I was a bit concerned we would not reached the £1,000 mark but in the end the event brought in over £1,100 which I think is brilliant,' he said.

Mr Gregorek said although the start to the tourist season was a bit quiet, there were now more than 100 people staying at his holiday complex which includes several fishing lakes and self-catering accommodation, and bookings for the summer were looking very good.

A cheque for £1,000 has been presented to the Green Wellie Appeal and £100 has been given to Winsford Community Centre.
