Tavistock B 2 Tavistock A 6 FOR only the second time in Tavistock Hockey Club?s history an inter-club league game was played at the weekend. It followed the first team men?s game at Kelly College which saw all three men?s teams at home for the first time and a good atmosphere was in prospect. A very spirited performance was put up by Cooley?s B-side, with the speed of Holland and new boy Sid, who managed a debut goal. With steadying influence and mid field dynamo of Young and Townsend the B-side looked like they wanted to take the game to the As. However the difference in the table position between the two sides began to show, with Kelly running through the defence of the B side to end up with a hat-trick, Costello, Andrews and Read were also on the score sheet for Honey?s As. Particular note should be paid to the feet of Cooley who managed to stop (painfully) several hard shots to goal, off the stick of Edwards through out the game. Thanks went to Joe Raeburn and Aleck Venning who took on the difficult job of umpiring an inter club game.
