THE Kelly College 1st and 2nd XI girls? hockey teams started their season last week against Exeter School. The 1st XI is a young side this year and, minus their experienced captain were 3-0 down at half time. This was despite some resolute defending from Toni Fulton and a fine display in goal from Charlie Maydon. The team rallied in the 2nd half and had the best of the chances. Neither team added to the score and the game finished as a 3-0 defeat, but the improving performance should boost confidence for future matches. The 2nd XI enjoyed an end to end match, eventually winning 3-2. Kelly soaked up heavy pressure early on and twice went behind before battling to an impressive 3-2 win. Bethe Crews was outstanding in defence and as the game progressed Angharad Morrison started to dominate the midfield. The increased supply to the forwards produced a goal for Kayleigh Driver and two goals for Hannah Gray.
