A West Devon photographer has been recognised on a international platform for capturing the essence of 'Togetherness' in a competition entered by professionals.

Portia Crossley from Yelverton was awarded 'highly commended' for her photograph on the theme of 'Togetherness', an accolade she was awarded out of 360 entries to the Photogether Photography Competition.

The judges were looking for originality, creativity, composition and technical competence.

The highly commended image was spotted by Portia and taken candidly on Roborough Down.  Portia is a professional photographer who is passionate about capturing 'the moment' or essence of the subject in an artistic manner.

She said: 'My philosophy is to create real time photographs that have authentic special memories attached to them. I particularly loved this image because the togetherness of the couple was mirrored in the kites as they danced in unison towards one another.

'This award means so much. I have always been well known for my wedding photography and the natural, relaxed "fly on the wall" feel, that captures the emotion and colour of the occasion. I am delighted to have been recognised for my portrait work in this way, it'll really spur me on to future projects.'
