ONE of the most beautiful and charismatic birds in Devon are suffering a sharp decline in numbers, which has sparked a new census to be carried out this year.

The Barn Owl Trust would like to hear from anyone in West Devon who knows of a roost or nest site, or who has seen a barn owl this year.

It is thought the birds? numbers have been declining due to loss of foraging habitat and nesting sites. The trust hopes the census will provide a picture of how barn owls are faring in Devon, which will help guide future conservation measures.
