A MEMBER of a West Devon holiday firm is this week celebrating after scooping a top industry award. James Webb works for Chagford-based Helpful Holidays ? the 24-year-old has been named the winner of the outstanding customer service award in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2005/6. The awards are known as the region?s ?tourism oscars? and aim to reward and promote quality within the industry. James, who is due to receive his award at a special dinner on November 1, said: ?It?s a great honour to be recognised for this award and I?m very thankful to Helpful Holidays for the support they have given me.? James, who has worked for Helpful Holidays for more than five years, will now be put forward for the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence in the outstanding customer service category. Moray Bowater, general manager of the company, said: ?Endlessly patient and good humoured, almost nothing is too much trouble for James. ?We are delighted James has won the award ? this is a great achievement for him but also testament to the kind of service on offer from Helpful Holidays overall.? The company, founded in 1982, now acts as agents for more than 500 holiday homes in the South West. It was recently shortlisted as a regional finalist for the 2005 E-Commerce Awards and for the Parcelforce Worldwide Small Business Awards.
