RESTORATION activity at Fingle Woods has received a welcome boost thanks to a donation of more than £1,000 raised by 91 horseriders who took part in a recent fun ride through the woods.
The event was organised by Lucy Bruckner who runs a pet, equine and livestock supplier in Moretonhampstead.
The Woodland Trust and the National Trust are inviting people to a public consultation event on the future management of Fingle Woods today (Thursday) at the Fingle Bridge Inn between 11am and 8pm.
People are invited to drop in at any time during the day to find out more about the future plans for the site, with Woodland Trust, National Trust and Footprint Ecology staff in attendance to answer questions on the proposed management plan, its objectives and how the public can support the ongoing work at Fingle Woods.
The charities have received funding support to raise £3.8-million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Viridor Credits Environmental Company, Garfield Weston Foundation, a number of charitable trusts and individual donors.
A further £1.2-million is still required to fund the long term restoration activity on site.
