THE British Red Cross is calling for volunteers in West Devon to help bring in the pounds during Red Cross Week, the charity's annual fundraising drive, between May 5 and 11.
Volunteers are needed to collect donations for just two hours at locations across the county, from Exeter to Okehampton and Barnstaple to Plymouth. Every pound raised and donated helps the Red Cross provide emergency response services, first aid and health and social care across Devon.
Kate Bailey, community fundraiser at the British Red Cross said: 'During Red Cross Week we rely on our fantastic volunteers giving their time to collect locally, in aid of the Red Cross.
'We couldn't raise the money we do without them. The more collectors there are, the more money can be raised, so we are really encouraging people to sign up this year.
'Why not spread the word and ask your friends to join you too?'
People who wish to collect for the Red Cross can contact Kate Bailey on 01392 353274 or visit http://www.redcross.org.uk/redcrossweek">www.redcross.org.uk/redcrossweek to sign up and find out how to get started.
The Red Cross Week site also has lots of information on other ways to get involved and has all the inspiration and ideas needed to come up with fundraising antics.
