ACTIONS really do speak louder than words for one young West Devon resident, who helped raise money for a cause close to her heart.
Sophie Shaw, seven, from Northlew, raised more than £125 when she ran a fundraising stall outside her village primary school for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
Sophie, a pupil at Northlew and Ashbury Primary School, decided to help the charity after she watched a WWF information film about climate change and the risks caused to polar bears.
The dedicated youngster helped make and decorate cakes, as well as collect toys, books and gifts which, assisted by her friends, she sold on her stall along with other donations from well-wishers.
She also had help from her bother, Ryan, 11, who put up posters around the village and produced information boards about polar bears and the environmental challenges they face.
After the event Sophie gave a talk to the school about her fundraising stall. The school also organised a non-uniform and bad hair day in aid of WWF's cause.
Sophie expressed thanks to all who donated money and items towards her stall and to everyone who helped and supported her.
