OKEHAMPTON Business Centre is inviting local business owners and those interested in finding out more about running their own business to an 'Enterprising West Devon' event on Thursday, May 12.

The sessions, which are completely free, run from 3pm to 5pm, or 6pm to 8pm. They will look at how the current economic climate is affecting local businesses and highlight the support available to them, as well as highlight the opportunities, tools and advice available for those considering starting up their own venture.

The event is being provided by Business Information Point and Natwest. Presentations will be given by representatives of both organisations, followed by an informal networking session. Refreshments will be provided and attendees will have an opportunity to sample some of the business planning tools on offer.

Kathy Fogerty, one of Natwest's Okehampton-based business managers, said: 'My colleagues and I are delighted to be extending the support we can offer small businesses in the area through this event.

'Having access to advice and guidance from banks and other advisory organisations is vital to small businesses and this event gives people a great opportunity to chat through their ideas and circumstances.'

Stewart Horne, managing director of BIP said: 'The event will inform everyone interested in learning what support is available to businesses whether they are just thinking about starting up in business, have recently started or have been established for some time.'
