WEST Devon modern pentathlete Heather Fell finished second in the National Modern Pentathlon Championships at Millfield School, Street. ?I had an average competition with no amazing phases but no disasters either, so to finish only a few points behind the winner was pleasing,? Heather said. Following the championships, Heather attended a week?s training camp in Hungary. A month of solid training showed with a second place in both the run and the swim. Fencing was the lesser score so the intensive training camp in Hungary should have helped in the preparation for the World Championships, she said. Heather has been selected for the World Championships team which will compete in Berlin from August 14 to 20. It will be her first senior World Championships and also another Olympic qualifier so the competiton standard will be extremely high. ?I am really looking forward to it and hope to prove myself as a contender for next year?s Beijing Olympics,? Heather said.
