WEST Devon athlete Heather Fell ended the year in style, along with fellow Beijing 2008 Olympian Sam Weale, by winning the senior titles at the British Modern Pentathlon Championships at the University of Bath at the weekend.

Jamie Cooke and Freyja Prentice – who finished first and third in their respective World Junior Championships last month – won the British Junior Championships titles.

In the women's competition, Prentice and Fell finished level on 5,404 points with Prentice taking the junior title and Fell the senior.

Heather Fell from Merrivale and a Tavistock Athletic Club member is a Beijing Olympic 2008 silver medallist and former world number one. She topped the senior rankings in the fence and combined event and also went clear in the ride, with Katy Burke coming second, Samantha Murray third and Katy Livingston fourth overall.

The third and final national selection competition takes place the weekend of 21 and 22 January.
