Olympic silver medalist Heather Fell has agreed to be the patron of the Son-Rise Cup Festival of Football.

Allen Lewis, one of its organisers, said: 'I am delighted , as she is from a lovely local Dartmoor family who I have known for 30 plus years and it strengthens the foundation of this growing event.

'Last month I wrote to Heather asking her to be involved and she replied yesterday to say she would be honoured to fill that role especially as it has become such a part of our town. 'Obviously for me personally the connections with the equestrian world strengthens my contacts with other Horse Racing celebrities who are becoming more aware of our fund raising for this cause.

'With disability football the heart of this event the more publicity we can get the better and now with the increasing support of our own businesses and Ocean BMW ,this is just what we need to shout about our inspiring footballers in the West Country. The FA Respect Programme will get yet another boost from the Son-Rise Cup.

'Today I am one very happy event organiser!
