GALE force winds and heavy rain did not deter 15 stalwarts from Tavistock Golf Club competing in the mens' monthly medal.
The winner, with a commendable nett 72, was Dan Pratley on countback from Will Inman, Dave Treble and David Young.
The first Ladies' Stableford of the year was played in more favourable conditions though the course, having survived snow and ice, did play long.
In division one Nicky Gawman had 33pts on countback from Belinda McSherry with Dawn Phillott in third place with 31.
Ginny Samborne topped division two with 27pts with Teresa Hughes in second place with 25 on countback from Jan Walls and Liz Lyndon.
First in division three was Barbara Chalk with 33pts, second Helen Mitchell 26 and third was Sam Avens with 23.
The juniors played their first club competition in bright and breezy conditions with Pete Page scoring 37pts, second was Sam Jessop with 36 and third was Will Stenhouse with 32 on countback from Will Notley and Mike Henderson.
Also on the course was the beginners group — 12 youngsters whose ages range from 7 to 14 years — all very keen and enthusiatic to improve their games and looking forward to a year's good golf and weather. A sentiment shared by all golfers!
