TAVISTOCK's town crier managed to make it home in time for Christmas after a sudden heart attack during his last week at work before retirement.
Bob Rose was sent home from hospital on Christmas Eve with the news he must face a triple heart by-pass in the New Year.
But Mr Rose vowed his health problems would not make any difference to the European Town Criers Championships, due to be held in Tavistock during Millennium year.
'We're still pushing on with it,' said Mr Rose, but explained until he was fit he would have to delegate some of the organisational work.
He has yet to find out when the operation will be.
'I'm just waiting for the call,' he said.
