VISITORS to Tavistock Library will be able to benefit from the help and advice of the volunteer services from next month.

From Thursday April 5, West Devon CVS and Volunteer Services will be available in the library's meeting room on Thursdays from 9am to 1pm and on Fridays from 1pm to 4pm, offering advice on becoming a volunteer and information on volunteering opportunities with local groups and organisations.

Billie Burnett, West Devon CVS volunteering services co-ordinator, said: 'The library is a very convenient place to be. It's very close to the town centre and the meeting room is just off the main foyer with full disabled access. We currently offer a huge range of volunteering opportunities in our area. The list is constantly growing with new activities and new groups.

'My aim is to find something interesting and enjoyable for everyone, which at the same time, supports our community. It's a win-win situation and the benefits are there for the asking.'

There is no need for an appointment, just drop in.

West Devon CVS will also be holding a development works surgery on the first Thursday of every month between 9am and 1pm at Tavistock Library, where development worker Jacqui Wolstenholme will discuss all aspects of running a voluntary organisation. Although an appointment is not necessary, in order to get the right information, please contact Jacqui prior to the meeting on [email protected]">[email protected] or call 01837533392.
