THE headteacher of two Tavistock schools will be leaving her post at the end of the school year for a new life in France.
Clare Wesson, headteacher of St Rumon's Infants School and St Peter's Junior School, tendered her resignation last week.
Mrs Wesson has been associated with the schools for the past nine years, beginning as headteacher of St Rumon's before 'taking the reins' at St Peter's, after former head John George retired.
She was instrumental in formally joining the two schools together as Tavistock Church Schools Federation in 2008 and gained an 'outstanding' Ofsted report for St Rumon's in 2010.
Chair of governors Richard Crawford said: 'The schools have flourished under the headship of Clare Wesson over the past nine years.
'We will miss her strong leadership, but wish her every success for her new life in France.'
The process has already begun to recruit a replacement for Mrs Wesson, working with the Local Authority and Exeter Diocese.
• The federation will be saying goodbye to Mrs Wesson at the end of the summer term.
