HAZEL O?Connor was at her home in County Wicklow dealing with the press while trying to get some gardening done. ?Today is a gardening day. And tomorrow is DIY,? said the vivacious singer who rose to fame with the film Breaking Glass. At home prior to her imminent tour which includes playing Tavistock Town Hall on Sunday she likes to keep busy. ?I go to yoga and I really try hard to do some yoga or Tai Chi. I have a bit too much negative energy and I get a bit depressed when I come off tour,? she said. Her eagerly awaited studio album Hidden Heart hit the streets this summer ? a delightful collection of songs that almost seamlessly fuse a traditional feel of harp with bluesy sax. A roller-coaster career has seen Hazel ride out some bad times to bounce back re-energised and with a creative talent undiminished by the pasing years. She is enjoying her career having taken full control of it, and is delighted her current concerts have been greeted with critical acclaim. l Tickets from Town Hall in person or call box office: 01822 617232.
